Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Procurement to build and execute procurement strategies that ensure cost-effectiveness and supply reliability. This role involves managing critical supplier relationships, overseeing raw material imports (specifically from China), and leading a dedicated team in our Ahmedabad location.
Location: Makarba, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Postgraduate degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry (MBA preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 20+ years of relevant experience in the chemical industry.
Expertise: Strong proficiency in raw material planning, imports from China, and import clearance procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic procurement plans for the chemical industry.
- Manage end-to-end supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and quality control.
- Drive significant cost optimization initiatives using deep market insights.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the existing procurement team.
- Monitor market trends, pricing dynamics, and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Oversee the procurement of essential raw materials and packaging materials.
- Ensure strict regulatory compliance across all procurement operations.
- Utilize strategic sourcing and supplier management best practices.
- Maintain supply continuity while optimizing cost structures.
Skills:
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Technical: Proficiency in SAP / e-Procurement systems is mandatory.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of industry regulations and market dynamics.
