Designation: Lead Process Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing/Biopharma)

Location: Bengaluru (Bangalore), Karnataka, India (On-site)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Qualifications and Skills

Education: MTech or PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant industry experience in process development and scale-up for MTech holders.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience for PhD holders.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Process Engineer to optimize, scale up, and lead technology transfer from lab to production scale. This key role involves managing a team of chemical engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless manufacturing campaigns and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of chemical engineers in process development and scale-up activities.
  • Apply core chemical engineering principles (heat transfer, mass transfer, kinetics, thermodynamics) to innovate and design robust processes.
  • Manage the end-to-end technology transfer process, ensuring compliance with cGMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in equipment selection, specification, procurement, and qualification (e.g., bioreactors, filtration skids, high-purity systems).
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments (PHA), and root cause analysis (RCA) to troubleshoot process issues and ensure process safety management (PSM).
  • Utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen, Dynochem, MATLAB) and statistical tools (e.g., DoE, Minitab) for process optimization and data analysis.
  • Collaborate effectively with R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance (QA), and supply chain teams.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, mass and energy balance, and equipment design.

Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
