Technical Skills Required for Process Engineer Job

1.Process Engineering & Design Skills

  • Process simulation and Heat & Material Balance (H&MB)
  • Line sizing for liquids & gases with pressure drop calculations
  • Preparation of Piping Line List
  • Knowledge of types of valves and their industrial applications
  • Pump sizing calculations and preparation of pump datasheets
  • Control valve sizing and related calculations

2.Equipment Design & Safety Engineering

  • Design of Heat Exchangers and Cooling Towers
  • Hazardous Area Classification (HAC)
  • Design and classification of storage tanks
  • Knowledge of PSV / PRV / Rupture Disc (RD)
  • Pressure setting criteria and relief case evaluation

3.Process Documentation & Standards

  • Introduction to BFD, PFD, UFD, and P&ID
  • Preparation of Equipment Process Datasheets
  • Instrument Process Datasheets
  • Understanding of codes & standards used in chemical and process industries
